Registered Phenomena Code: 165
Object Class: Alpha-Orange
Hazard Types: Bio-Hazard, Ideological Hazard, Info-Hazard, Memory Alteration Hazard, Sensory Hazard
Containment Protocols: RPC-165 is to be kept sealed via a padlock at Site-046, and locked in a room lit with ultraviolet light on a steel pedestal with ASF surveillance, along with a backup camera security system. Any unauthorized attempts to open RPC-165 are to be punished with termination.
An automated battery connected to UV lights are to be connected to a backup power grid, in order to prevent a containment breach in the event of a power outage.
RPC-165 upon being opened.
Description: RPC-165 is an urn with Greek iconography on its sides. It is approximately ████ years old. RPC-165 is approximately 0.5 meters tall and weighs 25 kilograms and made out of concrete. RPC-165 is anomalously cold to the touch regardless of its surroundings.
RPC-165's primary anomalous effects activate once it is opened. RPC-165 produces a cloud of smoke with a seemingly infinite source. This smoke is invisible to the naked eye and is only visible via UV light.
When more than one organism in the Animalia, Plantae, or Fungi kingdom enters the anomalous smoke cloud, the two organisms will "pool consciousness" or equally divide up all knowledge, intelligence, behaviors, and personality among themselves. This usually results in a panicked behavior from all organisms enveloped by RPC-165's smoke (hereby referred to as RPC-165-1, RPC-165-2, etc. in order of entrance into the fog).
This anomalous element usually multiplies upon itself into incomprehensible and unpredictable brain behavior when more than two subjects are affected by RPC-165 (see Discovery).
Discovery: RPC-165 was discovered at the site of a violent massacre at a flea market in ████████, Pennsylvania. Authority personnel investigated the flea market after hearing reports of ██ casualties and "seizure-like behavior" from all shoppers. ██% of the smoke was successfully found and contained by Authority personnel, and after █ hours of investigation, RPC-165 was discovered to be the source and itself closed and contained.
Addendum 1: A request for testing of RPC-165 has been sent in order to study its effects on various species and objects. Test request has been granted, and numerous CSDs have been selected to perform tests on.
Objective: To determine RPC-165's effect on nonstandard organisms, as well as understanding its effects on multiple subjects at once.
RPC-165-1: CSD-1332
RPC-165-2: A petri dish
Results: No effect. RPC-165 appears to not effect single-celled organisms.
RPC-165-1: CSD-1332
RPC-165-2: A carpenter ant.
Results: RPC-165-1 got on all fours and started to squirm on the ground. RPC-165-1 attempted to speak by moving its mouth sporadically and exhaling. RPC-165-2 appeared to attempt to lift its front off the ground and bite RPC-165-1. Both subjects terminated.
RPC-165-1 - 50: A honeybee nest.
Results: RPC-165-1 - 50 tripled its honey output. Personnel who attempted to remove the nest to terminate it [DATA EXPUNGED], instantly turning into honey.
RPC-165-1 - 250: A termite nest. Nest was placed in the same room as a maple wood coffee table.
Results: RPC-165-1 - 250 all proceeded to crawl to the coffee table and carve it into a statue of RPC-[REDACTED].
Note: RPC-165 appears to improve cooperation between species that operate on hive minds by overcoming physical barriers.
Objective: To determine RPC-165's effect on "standard" animal species.
RPC-165-1: CSD-1264
RPC-165-2: A common duck.
Results: RPC-165-1 started to flap its arms rapidly up and down over and over again and bob its head against the ground. RPC-165-2 simply fell over in apparent shock.
RPC-165-1: CSD-1392
RPC-165-2: A white mouse.
Results: RPC-165-1 slammed itself into the ground and then started to limp around the containment cell. RPC-165-2 lost all apparent sense of balance and shook back and forth.
RPC-165-1: CSD-2652
RPC-165-2: An earthworm
Results: [DATA EXPUNGED]
Note from Dr. H███: Dammit, we're gonna need to search all over Site-045 for this thing!
Objective: To determine RPC-165's effect on organisms that lack a muscular or mental organ system.
RPC-165-1: CSD-1639
RPC-165-2: An Amanita muscaria specimen.
Results: RPC-165-1 started ripping out its teeth and flinging them across the room. No visible behavior was noticed from RPC-165-2.
RPC-165-1: CSD-4921
RPC-165-2: A poison ivy plant.
Results: RPC-165-1's skin started to turn red as RPC-165-1 started to scream. RPC-165-2 twitched repeatedly.
Objective: To determine RPC-165's effect on humans with varying mental patterns.
Note: CSD-1434 was previously admitted to a mental ward for schizophrenia before being enlisted by the Authority.
RPC-165-1: CSD-1645
RPC-165-2: CSD-1434
Results: RPC-165-1 and RPC-165-2 both started to violently attack their heads with their hands, screaming in agony. After several minutes of self-mutilation, both of them stopped showing vital signs.
Note: CSD-1295 was given a piece of notebook paper and a ballpoint pen and asked to "describe how he was feeling" while under the effects of RPC-165's smoke. Testing was done with a 9-centimeter thick plexiglass window so the researcher team could see CSD-1295's writing.
RPC-165-1: CSD-1295
RPC-165-2: CSD-5632
Results: RPC-165-1 wrote the following while alone in RPC-165's smoke:
This [EXPLETIVE REDACTED] is making me feel really uncomfortable. It feels like something's gonna jump at me and kill me, you know? Sort of like when you're alone in the dark, and you think you see something moving, but you're not sure what it is. It's like that but a lot worse.
After finishing this, RPC-165-2 was introduced into RPC-165's smoke. RPC-165-1 and RPC-165-2 both frantically attempted to grasp the pen and struggled with each other to write on the paper. Anesthesia gas was poured into the room to stop RPC-165-1 and 2 from moving. The paper contained unintelligible scribbling.
Addendum 2: Due to test results, all plans for RPC-165 to be used for mental analysis, interrogation, or mind reading are to be suspended. There's just too high a risk. —Junior researcher S███████
