RPC-226, documented after Incident 1.
Registered Phenomena Code: 226
Object Class: Beta-Yellow
Hazard Types: Organic Hazard, Regenerative Hazard, Sentient Hazard, Contact Hazard
Containment Protocols: RPC-226 is to be contained at Site-007 in a climate controlled, acoustic dampening room measuring seventy by seventy-five by fifty (70x75x50) meters. The room is to be kept at an average temperature of -9°C to -6°C and should include an arrangement of flora and soil similar to that of RPC-226's native environment. These should include a thick grouping of various shrubbery and a small arrangement of any trees of the Pinus order (if possible). During the winter climate cycle, a light dusting of artificial snow must be spread across the entire span of the environment, as well as on the shrubs and trees.
The floor of RPC-226's containment chamber is to be underlain with a layer of rubber 0.5 centimeters thick. Personnel interacting with RPC-226 must possess Level 3 clearance and pass a psychological evaluation. Janitorial personnel are to be accompanied by two (2) individuals with adequate clearance, and they must also be evaluated prior to entry. RPC-226 should be interacted with daily by an individual who meets the above criteria.
Routine sweeps of [REDACTED] where RPC-226 was found are to be conducted weekly. Should any living creatures be found in the area, they are to be transported to Site-008 for testing of potential anomalous properties.
RPC-226-1 requires no special containment procedures, as it is already contained inside RPC-226.
RPC-226-2 must be contained and transported in a rubber vial 0.3 centimeters thick. Transporting personnel are to be armed with incendiary devices in the case of an accidental spill.
Description: RPC-226 resembles a canis lupis familiaris of the Siberian Husky breed. It has a black and white coat of hair, and apart from RPC-226-1 and RPC-226-2, it bears no other obvious physical distinctions from that of a thoroughbred native to the Siberian wilderness.
RPC-226-1 appears to be a structure originating from RPC-226's lingual papillae, although further research of RPC-226-1 and RPC-226-2 must be conducted with caution, due to the extremely sensitive intuition of RPC-226. RPC-226-1 has been described by several personnel as forming a claw-like structure that can extend or retract from RPC-226's mouth. It is unclear as to whether this structure is what secretes RPC-226-2, or if the two are entirely separate from each other.
RPC-226-2 is a secretion composed of water, salt, various proteins, and an unknown substance that appears highly mercurial. RPC-226-2 only displays anomalous effects when it comes into contact with non-organic material or life forms of the class Mammalia. Currently, no anomalous effects have been demonstrated on invertebrates or members of the Plantae kingdom.
Although this substance appears to originate from the mouth of RPC-226, it also appears to be present throughout RPC-226's tissue. There are currently no known means to terminate or otherwise damage RPC-226, as any damage inflicted results in rapid recovery.
When RPC-226-2 comes into contact with a mammal, one of two (2) scenarios will occur:
1. If the subject is in a calm or otherwise positive cognitive state when interacting with RPC-226, RPC-226-2 will display extreme regenerative properties. Any and all wounds, internal or external, will be mended and reverted back to a normal functioning state. There currently does not appear to be any limitations to this effect, regardless of how serious a wound is or how long it has existed.
2. If the subject exhibits an aggressive, anxious, or otherwise negative cognitive state, RPC-226-2 will display anomalous and instantaneous reduction-oxidation over the area that RPC-226-2 is in contact with. Currently there are no substances that can dilute or prevent this reaction, although further testing with RPC-███ and [REDACTED] has been requested and is awaiting approval.
(For further reading, see experiment log)
It is recommended that RPC-226's containment be maintained and identical to its native habitat in order to prevent any anxiety or confusion in RPC-226. Advised by Dr. Fora and concurred by Dr. Jaoli.
Discovery Log: RPC-226 was discovered on ██/██/19██ by Dr. Fora and his research team, whilst conducting routine sweeps near the crater of [REDACTED] in southern Siberia.
RPC-226 was discovered wandering approximately fifteen (15) meters from [REDACTED]. At first contact, RPC-226 showed no signs of hostility towards the expedition. Alternatively, RPC-226s behavior was subservient, approaching Dr. Fora and making contact with the doctor's hand. It was at this point that RPC-226 displayed anomalous properties via RPC-226-2.
Dr. Fora was previously missing several fingers from his left hand. Almost immediately after contact with RPC-226-2, Dr. Fora's fingers slowly began to regrow.
Dr. Fora proceeded to contact additional Authority personnel, including MST Bravo-4, to relocate RPC-226 to [REDACTED] in the Ural Mountains.
RPC-226 was compliant during the process, with one exception.
Incident 1, ██/██/19██:
During the transfer of RPC-226 to Site-007, Agent Kapis was assigned to be RPC-226's handler. Agent Kapis had a previously unknown distaste for canines and, during transportation, was unnecessarily forceful with RPC-226.
At approximately 13:47 hours, RPC-226-1 emerged from RPC-226's mouth and attached to Agent Kapis's hand, effectively ████████████ all tissue from it. Agent Kapis' team assumed RPC-226 to be hostile and proceeded to engage it, resulting in their eventual ██████████████ by means of RPC-226-2.
A secondary team was dispatched after contact with Agent Kapis was lost.
The second team found RPC-226 investigating the remains of Agent Kapis and uttering a subtle, high pitched sound, resembling that of a typical canine whimper. RPC-226 was detained and transportation to current containment at Site-007 proceeded without further incidents.
Upon initial containment, RPC-226 was designated as "Gamma" class after the altercation with Agent Kapis and his team. However, after studying RPC-226's behavior, it is most likely that RPC-226 acted in self-defense, and is not necessarily predisposed to hostility. RPC-226 also has not demonstrated any attempts at containment breach and appears quite content with its current habitat. Daily interaction with friendly personnel has shown to improve RPC-226's mood and appears to make it more docile during experimentation. Thus, RPC-226 has been designated as "Beta".
The following are the most notable experiments with RPC-226-2.
Experiment 1
██/██/19██
Foreword: RPC-226-2 obtained while RPC-226 was under duress. The resulting spill caused significant damage to RPC-226's containment chamber, as well as severe burns to 7 personnel. Notably, Dr. Jaoli's rubber-soled shoes remained mostly undamaged.
<Begin log>
Test: RPC-226-2 applied to a 1-centimeter thick piece of rubber.
Results: RPC-226-2 remained inert on the rubber, causing no damage to it. Containment Procedures updated.
<End log>
Experiment █
██/██/19██
Foreword: RPC-226-2 obtained while RPC-226 was under duress.
<Begin log>
Test: RPC-226-2 applied to a 3-centimeter thick piece of heavy rebar.
Results: RPC-226-2 dissolved completely through the steel and proceeded down through the testing table and began dissolving floor of the containment chamber. This process took approximately 12 seconds. RPC-226-2 neutralized via incineration.
<End log>
Experiment ██
██/██/19██
Foreword: RPC-226-2 obtained while RPC-226 was under duress. The testing table was placed over a rubber mat.
<Begin log>
Test: RPC-226-2 applied to a small bowl of water.
Results: RPC-226-2 appeared to duplicate itself using the water provided. RPC-226-2 then proceeded to dissolve through the bowl and onto the rubber mat. This process took approximately 7 seconds.
<End log>
"RPC-226-2's potency on an object seems to be affected by the object's conduction of electricity. Perhaps it is a superconductor. I'd like to test this theory further. " -Note from Dr. Jaoli.
-Request Denied-
Experiment ██
██/██/19██
Subject: CSD-947, arm amputation.
Foreword: RPC-226-2 obtained while RPC-226 was calm.
<Begin log>
Test: RPC-226-2 applied to CSD-947.
Results: CSD-947's arm regrew and was fully functional.
Notes: RPC-226-2 appears to be capable of restoring nerve connections.
<End log>
Experiment ██
██/██/20██
Subject: CSD-1037, severe head trauma.
Foreword: RPC-226-2 obtained while RPC-226 was calm.
<Begin log>
Test: RPC-226-2 applied to CSD-1037's head.
Results: CSD-1037 expired due to internal hemorrhaging.
Notes: RPC-226-2 must not be able to invoke healing unless directly applied to wound.
<End log>
Experiment ██
██/██/20██
Subject: Dr. Jaoli, stage 3 lymphatic cancer.
Foreword: RPC-226-2 obtained while RPC-226 was calm.
<Begin log>
Test: RPC-226-2 applied to Dr. Jaoli through intravenous injection.
Results: Dr. Jaoli expired. Post-mortem autopsy attributed his death to an autoimmune attack on his lymphatic system.
<End log>
By order of GD-██, testing with RPC-226-2 will be suspended until further notice.
[DATA EXPUNGED] after containment breach. Circa 19██.
Note from ██████████: Dating RPC-226 has been unreliable due to RPC-226's regenerative properties. However, the biology of RPC-226 has been mutated similar to that of other mammals in [REDACTED].
It is theorized that RPC-226 may be a direct result of the containment breach at [DATA EXPUNGED] in the summer of 19██. This occurred due to the Authority's use of [REDACTED] on ███████, causing multiple containment breaches at Site-███. RPC-███ and ███ proceeded to breach the upper-levels of Site-███, and in the process caused several reactor failures and leaks of Element ███. This breach devastated an area of approximately ████ square kilometers.
It is unknown whether this incident had a hand in creating or mutating RPC-226, but analysis of tissue from other mammals near [REDACTED] have revealed similar mutations, albeit non-anomalous.
MST X-Ray-6's disinformation efforts have thus far proven effective, popularizing the incident as the "████████ Event".
