Containment Protocols: The original five RPC-489 instances have been encased in concrete and buried 20m underneath former OL-Site-489 inside a 3m thick lead box. All new discovered instances are to be disposed of and incinerated when possible, with their remains shipped to OL-Site-489 in concrete-filled barrels.

The immediate area around OL-Site-489 is guarded by remote artillery units, and by ASF personnel in a perimeter surrounding the Hibbing Rust Hull mine.

BLANKET TESTING BAN: 07/21/2025 — PRESENT
Authority: NORTHCOM Command
Reasoning: As a means to prevent the events of July 2025 from repeating, personnel are to be notified of the following: attempts to replicate and/or experiment on RPC-489 instances will result in immediate termination. Unauthorized attempts to approach OL-Site-489 will also result in immediate termination.

RPC-489-4 Habitat / General Flora Enclosure.

Description: A group of five meteorites composed primarily of wolframite, hollowed-out for use as Helmholtz resonators prior to impact. For all intents and purposes, instances act as vessel flutes when provided with a constant stream of air, producing an oscillating resonance (RPC-489-A) from one of many holes along their surface.

Material within audible range of RPC-489-A will experience accelerated necrosis (or erosion) and cicatrization.1 Lesions take the form of orifices spanning the material's length, and the formation of an inner resonance chamber, should a similar structure not be already present. Organic life will not expire as a result of said injuries inside this area. The effect's range and speed is proportional to the given area's sound exposure.2

In order to maintain this area, affected mammals will gather around RPC-489 instances and take turns blowing air into its central windway using their hollowed-out organs as biological bellows. At random intervals, they will also press body parts against the instance's holes to increase/decrease its pitch and frequency. Testing shows that prolonged exposure to RPC-489-A will result in permanent memory loss, and the development of dementia. Personal soundproofing (i.e earplugs) is unable to inhibit this particular effect. Recordings of RPC-489-A show no anomalous effects.

Discovery: On the 3rd of May, 2025, a cluster of five Near Earth Objects were detected by NASA radars to have changed trajectory unexpectedly into a collision course with Earth. It was asserted that, due to their small size, the NEOs would rapidly disintegrate upon entry. NEOs did not disintegrate upon entry, instead appearing to have remained perfectly intact up to their collision.

Two days following impact, a team of students from the University of Minnesota volunteered to study the meteorites in their landing site around the Hibbing Rust Hull. Students failed to report back to the university after five days following their arrival at Hibbing, prompting police investigation. Subsequently, police officers failed to report back to precinct after confirming their arrival at the area of disappearance.

Subsequent disappearance of state police triggered Authority alarm systems, prompting the discrete deployment of RE-200 Rescue Rangers into the area as facilitated by state officials. All missing individuals were found gathered around different RPC-489 instances around the area. The cause of the individuals' current state was hypothesized to be sound-based following close examination via remotely-controlled drones. Individuals expired shortly after their removal from the area. Remaining instances were incinerated or covered in Safe-Tissue.3

RPC-489 Experimentation/Study Recordings:

The following tapes and personal reports were been found in the office of Dr. Kurt Riese following the events of 07/21/2025 and its subsequent investigation. Non-relevant tapes to the investigation may be requested to NORTHCOM archival records.

Catastrophic Containment Breach Report - 07/21/2025:

This is a compiled list of documents, media and recounting of the events transpired on the 21st of July, 2025. All new information regarding the long-term psychological effects of RPC-489 on humans are to be forwarded to Site-120's ACI department.
