Hazard Types:

Containment Protocols: RPC-586 is stored in a sword display case featuring a level 3 security bio-metric fingerprint scanner on Site-007. When not in use the blade of RPC-586 is to be kept in good condition. Maintenance will be conducted by an on-Site ASF Armorer trained in classic grinding/sharpening techniques. The designated area is to be supervised by Mobile Specialized Team Hotel-01 ("Highlanders"). In the event of an unexpected on-site containment breach, personnel assigned to the task force are to lend support to RPC-586-1.

For testing and re-containment of an anomaly, a damage resistant humanoid mannequin composed of titanium and assorted alloys is to hold RPC-586. An explosive device is to be installed inside the arms of the mannequin in the event of RPC-586-1 attempting a non-violent containment breach or deviating from its assigned task.

After all affairs are done, RPC-586-1 will be rewarded with interactive media related to history and/or religion at the discretion of the lead Research personnel. Afterwards, the blade will be treated, cleaned, and returned to its containment chamber.

For interviews and live tissue destructive testing, only CSD-class females are authorized to hold RPC-586 to fulfill the need for an organic instance of RPC-586-1. To achieve a permanent stay, the CSD will be required to cause a minor laceration in their dominant hand using RPC-586. Description: RPC-586 is a medieval one-handed castillon sword dating from 1520 A.C. made from steel, silver and gold³. The sword has been engraved with catholic religious iconography along its length, the pommel has been inlaid in gold with the symbol of The Ashfahl Union.⁴

RPC-586 shows a great resistance to any type of damage that should be capable of physical damage and immunity to temperatures that can cause the materials of RPC-586 to melt⁵ or shatter. The condition of RPC-586's blade has never been observed to rust, crack, or suffer damage under use.

If RPC-586 is held by any living humanoid entity, the consciousness and thoughts of said entity will be temporally blocked and RPC-586-1 will appear inside the now host of RPC-586-1. If said person drops RPC-586, the effects of RPC-586-1 will stop manifesting. The only way to archive a permanant manifestation is to cause any type of laceration in their main hand using RPC-586 and reciting the following phrase: "Per meum sacrificium offero corpus meum et animam in auxilium sancta ecclesia".

RPC-586-1 is a psionic entity living inside the sword. The entity is a female of Spanish origin, identifying itself as "Andrea", who by interviews and research, was proven to be a Spanish conquistador of the new world and an ex-custodian of the ruins of Mount Vesuvius.

RPC-586-1 only speaks in European Spanish; RPC-586-1 does not know English, while possessing some understanding of the proto-German language. Interviews made with RPC-586-1 revealed a strong hatred towards the Catholic Church, but at the same time a strong sense of religious doctrines such as “God vs. Satan” and “the protection of God by praying and war”, actively takes part in prayers and communion around the site.

While very friendly towards any authority agents and personnel, RPC-586-1 displays an exceptionally inquisitorial and judgmental attitude while performing missions involving the re-containment and acquisition of anomalies. Because of the great time-lapse from the Spanish conquest over Latin America and modern times, RPC-586-1 often confuses the names of countries; like for example calling Mexico the “New Spain” and Germany “the land of the pope”.

When RPC-586-1 gets involved in a confrontation, RPC-586 will start to combust with blue and orange flames while creating a type of plate amour and shield composed of flames of the same colors covering from feet to neck⁶. If RPC-586-1 is accompanied by Catholic people and/or people who believe in Christian teachings, the flames of RPC-586-1 will start to manifest outside of the sword and shield, covering a ring of non-anomalous fire surrounding RPC-586-1 and the people around her.

In the event that the physical body of RPC-586-1 expires on combat, the armor and sword will stop emitting fire and the corpse will start combusting to the point of spreading white flames to the surroundings, burning everything in a radius of 13 meters⁷. After the flames subdue, the scorched skeleton of RPC-586-1 can be found alongside with RPC-586; RPC-586 can be safely retrieved and even handle after the event. RPC-586-1 will comment about the event and question about the cause of death.

Discovery log

Place of discovery of RPC-586.

RPC-586 was first sighted in the German district of Aschersleben-Staßfurt after an apartment building edification was stopped by construction workers; civilians and radios close to the building indicating that the screams of a woman could be heard around the area, screaming in Spanish and German that she wanted to get out of her prison and begging for help. After a week, the construction was declared "haunted" and "cursed".

The Authority entered action after a team of demolitionists found a man-made tunnel in the ground close to the foundation of the building. With the reopening of the entrance the screams of RPC-586 turned into pleas of help, telling people to save her. Once the MST "Highlanders" arrived and embedded themselves around the area, cops and rescuers arrived at the location. Most of the civilians were observed sealing the hole with concrete while others were trying to access the tunnel. Civilians were dismissed from the area with the excuse of being part of a film set.

Inside the tunnels, various papers with religious inscriptions and wax stamps were found in various parts of the tunnel, most said the same message; the voice sounded more relaxed as the closer the MST team found itself in proximity to the main chamber.

A scroll was found in the hands of the female skeleton explaining most of the supposed origin of RPC-586 and its anomalous properties as well a small explanation as to why it was abandoned; The scroll was written by agents of the Auctoritas Imperata and sealed in wax. Because of the poor condition of the text being deteriorated and partially burned; the following information was rescued:

Upon discovery of the scroll the MST stood on stand-by and waited for new orders from command. RPC-586 voice started to become concerned and asked if the guard could understand her. Once command gave the order of containment, the Highlanders bagged the female skeleton and drilled a cone-shaped circle around RPC-586 to avoid any physical contact. The area was left closed down and left secured by the excuse of "private property". On the way to Site-007 RPC-586 was exclaiming that it was nice to see the outside world and how it has changed.

Termination attempt #1 code-name "Vanquishment"

Status: FAILURE

Foreword: Because of the unknown damage that RPC-586 can probably unleash by using it or leaving it as it is we are authorized by the Site Director Yun Kim Sung to attempt neutralization attempts. Since the discovery of the crypt and RPC-586 not having any records on the mount Vesuvius it is considered extremely dangerous and probably a threat at large. It´s date and manner of activation is probably a sing of other things being left forgotten outside the crypt.

Items used: 1 electric phosphate smelting furnace and fuel to last for 10 hours at 3,000 °C

Hypothesis: RPC-586 is composed of elements that at maximum temperature can melt with easy, so we are going to leave it resting on an industrial furnace and recover the remains after.

Procedure: Place RPC-586 inside the furnace and leave it melting for about 5 hours, after that the remnants are to be collected and properly wasted.

Results: At the initial 2 hours of termination, the temperature was at 1,500 °C, with no success on causing any type of melting the temperature was raised to 2,000 °C. After 3 consecutive hours RPC-586 was still remaining with most dirt particles and mud turning into solid rock. Pyrometers from outside the furnace estimated that the temperature of RPC-586 was reaching 5,000 °C. As a last resort, the order was given to raise the inside temperature to 3,000 °C, the standard limit for industrial grade furnaces for more than 5 hours.

After results demonstrated that RPC-586 was left intact and with no apparent sight of melting or burning damage. The furnace that was used suffered internal damage and damage in the generator of heat; the furnace was sent to repairs.

Notes: RPC-586 left the termination attempt unhindered and even our pyrometers demonstrated that it can raise independently its own temperature to that of the sun without causing external damages to the surroundings. Why was this artifact left in Germany and not inside the Mount Vesuvius if it possesses that much a threat? Well, at least RPC-586 could at least appreciate the "burning cleansing" of dirt.

Termination attempt #2 code-name "Deprivation"

Status: FAILURE

Foreword: Since RPC-586 could withstand a such tremendous amount of heat and left even the furnace broken, we will attempt for a less extreme but secure way to neutralize it. It is well know that even the strongest materials break if they are cold enough, so if we freeze at least partially the main sword and we will be able to shatter it.

Items used: 1 10 L. container full of liquid nitrogen, a mechanized retractable arm, a steel hammer and a blacksmith.

Hypothesis: With the reveal of RPC-586 being immune to high temperatures and even making their own temperature, we are authorized to test if it can resist the lower temperatures and shatter.

Procedure: Bathe RPC-586 in liquid nitrogen for a period of 3 to 5 hours and get it out to smash it into pieces. RPC-586 remnants are to be collected and properly wasted.

Results: 10 minutes after the blade of RPC-586 was submerged into the container, vapor started to emerge from the container without reducing the amount of liquid nitrogen inside the container. After initial hour of the test (hour 3), pyrometers took the temperature of RPC-586 and indicated a standard temperature of 20 °C. Despite being surrounded in a temperature of -200 °C. At the end of the 5 hour waiting period, the blacksmith was instructed to pull RPC-586 out of the container utilizing the mechanical arm and to hit it with the hammer.

After results of the termination attempt indicated that RPC-586 did not received any blunt damage and/or temperature shattering. The blacksmith pointed out that when he hit the sword, he felt that he was doing something "wrong" and that at times he could hear a voice asking him what he was doing with that instrument.

Notes: Another termination attempt came and went without any degree of success which begs the question: what kind of weapon did the Auctoritas Imperata tried to make with RPC-586? Because it’s just a sword that gets heated up and if theories are correct, no person would survive the temperatures of it without wearing a protective suit, nothing more and nothing else. And the voice, how can we communicate with it? Maybe it is trying to lure us to grab it, maybe not. In eventuality, we are requested to continue trying to neutralize and we are to comply.

Termination attempt #3 code-name "Quietus"

Status: PARTIAL SUCCESS

Foreword: Since RPC-586 is prone to be immune against even the coldest environments we can produce in standard places, we have authorization to use more orthodox methods. If we at least could get something out of this, is just losing precious ammunition that agents will probably need for missions or practices. It just makes me a little enraged that the standards methods for neutralization aren’t allowed in here.

Items used: 1 M134 minigun and 30,00 rounds of ammunition, one security guard, a mechanized arm and bulletproof glass in case of ricochet bullets.

Hypothesis: Maybe RPC-586 is immune to damages related to high/low temperatures, but is resistant enough to be shot by a minigun at a rate of 6,000 rounds per minute?

Procedure: Place RPC-586 in a testing chamber installed with bulletproof glass and shoot RPC-586 the fuck out of it.

Results: At the start or the test it was advised to all the scientific personal to avoid getting close to windows and the entrance of the chamber. After the security team secured the place of possible injuries, the security guard tasked with the operation of the test, started shooting at RPC-586 with the minigun installed in the chamber. As time passed, RPC-586 started to irradiate heat around the area, reaching temperatures of 500 °C. The test lasted for 5 minutes until the minigun ran out of ammo.

After results of the termination attempt showed that the chamber was covered in ricochet bullets being redirected from RPC-586. Analysis on the bullets indicated that the frontal points of the bullets were flattened by the force of impact. Detailed looks at RPC-586 demonstrated small marking in the place where the minigun shot RPC-586.

Notes: What would we have thought to be a stupid termination attempt, showed some result!, at least we can at least be sure that RPC-586 can be in minuscule aspects be damaged. Probably is just some marks of the constant barrage of bullets in just one place but at least there was some kind of success. Maybe pressure is what we need instead of conventional termination methods.

Termination attempt #4 code-name "Animosity"

Status: FAILURE

Foreword: Weirdly enough, it seems that modern science can make at least marking on this accursed items, so if we can at least destroy it with this last attempt the better. Personally i wanted to experiment to see why she wants to communicate with us, or if at lease understand us. But rules of the site directors are rules. Let’s hope this is the last neutralization attempt.

Items used: Hydrochloric acid, a pressurize chamber that can create pressures of 2 097 200 Pa., a reinforced glass

Hypothesis: If we make enough pressure inside the chamber while filling it with acid, will it melt inside or just resist due to the pressure applied inside the chamber?

Procedure: make cracks on RPC-586 so we can fill the containment chamber with acid and corrode it from the inside and make it explode with the pressure we will infuse in the capsule.

Results: As RPC-586 was being dispensed into the bath of hydrochloric acid she complained about the "strong smell of foulness" taking this as a test of faith. Once RPC-586 was submerged into the container full of hydrochloric acid the lead automatically sealed. In the first attempt the capsule was put in a pressure for at least 100 meters of depth and RPC-586 did not shown any type of dissolution. As the middle part of the termination attempt, the pressure was raised to 250 meters of depth. RPC-586 showed some signs of gunpowder and metal shard being disintegrated around the sword.

After 10 hours of being submerged into the hydrochloric acid container, the order was given to release the pressure in the capsule to make a safe implosion in an attempt to destroy PRC-586. Once the area was clear of any fragile elements and personnel the container imploded with a force of 15 newton’s, enough to shatter the reinforced glass protecting the base.

After reports indicated that RPC-586 didn’t suffer eternal damage at plain sight; microscopic details signaled marks of pressure inside the body the edges, making her a little more compressed. The container was sent to repairs. After being contained, RPC-586 questioned if she had passed the test of faith and said that the smell was something she never smelled before.

Notes: And with that, the last termination attempt of RPC-586 has come to a close. It still surprises me that even in the direst circumstances of extermination, RPC-586 has remained in a positive attitude, could it be that the document was lying about its properties? That probably should wait; what´s important now is to classify RPC-586 as a Alpha-Orange anomaly.

Probably i will talk to the Site director in the future to allow a standard communication test with RPC-586. Maybe the crypt has the answers for this anomalous item, but for now i declare all termination attempts put on a temporal hold.

Incident RPC-586-1 "Burning Sinner"

On 03/12/202█, an external containment breach was caused when forces of the church of Malthus decided to attack Site-007 by using proxies in zones around Europe to take the attention of MST "Highlanders". Once most of the team left of the facility, CoM agents decided to attack, activating emergency protocol Zeta.

When security personal called back the MST "Highlanders" team, CoM agents took more than 45% of the site, disabling the video feed of the security cameras in the Research Facility, CSD Containment Level and Administrative Facility.

Most objects being transported to Site-007 via rail were stopped in favor of sending most beta anomalies to smaller sites around Europe. Head researchers were being kidnapped and those who tried to escape were being killed.

Dr. Frederick McGantly and James Carlson⁹ were trapped in the containment cell of RPC-586 while discussing how to test with RPC-586. Forces of CoM tried to enter the containment area kidnap the 2 doctors. It was at this point Dr. Frederick McGantly decided to use RPC-586 to try and repel the agents of CoM.

After grabbing RPC-586, Dr. Frederick McGantly turned into RPC-586-1

Foreword: The following transcript was rescued from the security cameras from Site-007. This event was taking place between the external containment breach of Site-007 and the repelling of external forces.

RPC-586-1 was found outside of the containment area, repelling the CoM agents while taking minor damage. When INTAKE emergencies forces arrived at Site-007, most of the CoM agents were escaping the area and other were captured. INTAKE agents managed to subdue RPC-586 in a state of containment and declared the containment breach over.

Foreword: Since the external containment breach, the research division has requested this interview to study RPC-586-1 and check if she is really telling the truth over being a ex-custodian of the ruins of Mount Vesuvius as the initial document signals as well as got to know more of it. This interview has been translated to English for a more clear understanding.

Moments before the interview started, RPC-586-1 can be seen looking everywhere in the interview room, he grabs a glass of water and drinks it. RPC-586 can be seen strapped in the back. Speakers inside the interview room alerted RPC-586-1 of the upcoming interview with James Carlson.

After Tenochtitlan fell down at the hands of our militia, we started to treat the natives as slaves, things that would anger God by even thinking. After that we were sent a bunch of soldiers back to Spain to tell the king about the news. Everyone at home was happy about this, but more the church.

The soldiers who returned were offered 2 things: help the church in more things and win a direct pass to heaven or being dismissed and probably hunted for "speaking" ills against the church. And because i was a fanatic of the word of the pope back then i accepted to keep working for them. Oh how wrong i was.

They got all the voluntaries and got in our way to Italy. The capital was beautiful but we only stayed there for at least 7 days, In that time-lapse we were told about what was in Mount Vesuvius and how to deal with the horrors that are contained inside of it. They told us too that they were searching for new custodian due to the lack on security around the area.

James Carlson: Was the sword that you inhabit part of the objects guarded on the Vesuvius? Or how did you come into contact with it?

RPC-586-1: Oh, "Golden Truth"? That was actually given by us for the church. As they said to us that they needed "a golden army worthy of the heavens" they weren’t kidding about that; most recruits were given some sort of magical item forged by the Aschfahl Union. And i grabbed golden truth because, come on, it looks cool.

James Carlson: Who are the Aschfahl Union? What can you tell me about them?

RPC-586-1: The Aschfahl Union was a bunch of magical blacksmiths in the Easter lands of the pope that created all types of apparatus and tools. They were commissioned by the Catholic Church to build most cages, locks and equipment in the Vesuvius. I don’t know if they still operate, let alone if most of their artifacts survived the test of time.

James Carlson: I see. Sorry for the interruption, you can continue with your story RPC-586-1.

RPC-586-1: Thank you James. As i was telling you, once inside the Vesuvius one of the priest told us that if we are really going to become the protectors of this place, we must become one with the place. They told us to cause an injury and drop our blood in our stuff to symbolize our eternal watch and protection. They gave us papers with the phase "Per meum sacrificium offero corpus meum et animam in auxilium sancta ecclesia".

One of my companions broke his foot and dropped blood in its shield, and i cutted myself with my right hand. At the moment of doing that i felt like i was somehow linked with the sword in body and soul. After that we entered the crypt. It was an abominable place of treachery and blasphemy against everything blessed by God and its land. At last i worked in that horrid place for more than 10 years.

10 years of seeing how priests feed monsters with innocent people, 10 years of watching how to weaponize some of Da Vinci inventions to expand the church, 10 horrible years of trying to protect my country from beats that could destroy the mind of even the most faithful ones. But the event that made me escape that horrid place was with a courier.

James Carlson: Was this courier bringing a letter from an organization called the "Authority"?

RPC-586-1: I don’t remember, but it didn’t matter. The only thing one of the priests told me was to kill it. I couldn’t even comprehend why they would want this courier dead. He looked so young and with a life to enjoy, but that didn’t matter when i slashed him in half. He didn’t had time to react to what just happened. What i did was unforgivable and it still haunts me to this day.

Days later after doing that, i decided to escape to never return to the Vesuvius. Even if the creatures break out i will never support the church ever again. Not when even God shows displeasure on their acts. Dammed be the day i accepted the job.

James Carlson: That explains what did you go to Germany after that, although it doesn’t explain why we found you in a man-made cave.

Closing Statement: No-one would have believe that, even with our termination attempts, that RPC-586-1 turned out to be the total reverse of the note found in its place on discovery. And it even looks like that the Auctoritas Imperata weren’t as much as the saints we liked to believe.

I suggest looking into giving RPC-586-1 a chance to work with the Authority, it´s the least i can do since she saved my life and the others in the site. As of today i declare all future termination attempts on RPC-586 to be cancelled and I’ll personally summit a Theta revision card to the INTAKE unit and Highlanders. Update note: As of ██/██/2020, RPC-586 will be assigned to Site-286 due to the anomaly's beneficial properties working optimally in conjunction with Christian subjects. The item will officially have a containment chamber within the crypts of the Site, but will be allowed to patrol and stand guard with the present ASF should it behave appropriately. S-286's staff are encouraged to engage in discourse with RPC-586 as a way of developing mutual trust - The staff is also required to report any changes in the anomaly's behavior, beliefs or properties during its stay.
