RPC-646 entering the home of an RPC-646-A instance.

Containment Protocols: Currently, RPC-646 is physically uncontained. Containment methods are under review. RPC-646's location is to be tracked at all times, and members of the public who witness RPC-646 in pursuit of an RPC-646-A instance are to be amnesticized and misinformed when necessary.

Authority personnel who report symptoms consistent with RPC-646-A instances are to be briefed on the nature of RPC-646 to maximize their chances of survival within RPC-646-B.

Description: RPC-646 is a selectively incorporeal, vaguely humanoid entity roughly 3 meters tall. RPC-646's limbs do not terminate in hands nor feet, but RPC-646 is still fully capable of walking and grasping objects with dexterity and efficiency exceeding that of humans. RPC-646 is capable of stalking and abducting human prey (hereafter referred to as RPC-646-A) undergoing the REM phase of sleep.

RPC-646-A instances currently being stalked by RPC-646 commonly report constant feelings of dread or unease, along with an overpowering feeling of fatigue, and will be unable to find the source of these feelings. RPC-646-A instances are unable to perceive RPC-646 prior to being abducted. When attacking, RPC-646 will physically restrain RPC-646-A, and both will vanish. Both RPC-646-A and RPC-646 will then reappear within RPC-646-B.

Please note that all descriptions of RPC-646-B are based on verbal testimonies from survivors of RPC-646-B, as no proper explorations of RPC-646-B have been executed. See Exploration Log-646 below.

RPC-646-B is a pocket dimension that physically resembles an infinitely long hallway that is constantly immersed in haze, or a similar obstruction that prevents proper, detailed observation of RPC-646-B's specific appearance. The type and shape of RPC-646-B appears to vary between descriptions, but RPC-646-B is consistently described as not having windows nor timekeeping devices.

RPC-646-A manifests at the start of RPC-646-B in formal attire and a briefcase in their nondominant hand. RPC-646-A will be accompanied by RPC-646. RPC-646 will direct RPC-646-A to open the briefcase, revealing a letter inscribed with the following text:

You are alone.
You cannot make it to the end of this hallway.
The rooms here are safe and cannot lie to you.
There are infinite rooms here. You needn’t explore all of them.
Take all the time you need. Do not rush.

As RPC-646-A explores RPC-646-B, they will report hearing generic words of encouragement (e.g. "Just keep going.", "You got this, man.", etc.) from somewhere generally behind them. RPC-646-A will be unable to locate the source of these noises.

RPC-646-B contains several rooms adjacent to each other throughout the hallway. The rooms contain iconography and items relevant to the life of RPC-646-A. The displays are often more accurate to real events than RPC-646-A's own recollection. These rooms exude scents often compared to lavender and are often accompanied by deep feelings of guilt, regret or other negative emotions which may prevent the subject from leaving. Leaving a room has proven extremely difficult for RPC-646-A instances.

Any light fixtures illuminating the internals of RPC-646-B intermittently cease functioning. The rooms within RPC-646-B will remain freely accessible and lit during this time, and RPC-646-A will be driven to take shelter in these rooms until proper lighting is restored. If not within a room of RPC-646-B, RPC-646-A will remanifest to where they were originally abducted at this time.

As no surviving RPC-646-A instance has reported being in a room of RPC-646-B just before reappearing in baseline reality, it is presumed that spending extended periods of time in these rooms is fatal. See Exploration Log-646 below.

Exploration Log-646: RPC-646 began walking directly towards Junior Research Assistant Dr. Conroy in the early morning hours of 23/9/1999. After Dr. Conroy failed to register the presence of RPC-646 behind him, preparations to observe the inside of RPC-646-B firsthand began. Dr. Conroy was outfitted with hidden audio and video recording devices within his undergarments and headwear, as these pieces of clothing were reportedly unaltered by RPC-646. Bidirectional communications devices could not be secured before Dr. Conroy collapsed of fatigue at 16:29:59 UTC.

Dr. Conroy vanished at 17:01:32 UTC, and a video recording of his time in RPC-646-B began being transmitted to Research Site-███-L. Errantly, Dr. Conroy was not informed of how to operate the audio recording devices affixed to him, resulting in a total lack of audio for the entire recording. Dr. Conroy was also not properly informed of RPC-646's behavior.

A description of the recording is below:

00:00

Dr. Conroy spends roughly 30 seconds remaining supine on the floor of RPC-646-B, unmoving. RPC-646 lightly nudges Dr. Conroy on the left shoulder, causing him to stir. Dr. Conroy stands, looking around at RPC-646 and RPC-646-B.

00:31 - 00:49

RPC-646-B's hallway resembles an extremely long, narrow subway tunnel. Dr. Conroy gains his footing on the train tracks beneath his feet and takes a step forward. Dr. Conroy looks behind him, presumably after RPC-646 makes physical contact with him once again.

00:52 - 00:58

RPC-646 points at the briefcase in Dr. Conroy's right hand and makes vague gestures with its arms. The lower half of RPC-646's "head" rapidly oscillates vertically, resembling speech.

01:02 - 01:23

Dr. Conroy opens the briefcase and quickly reads the letter within. It appears typewritten and has a small marking on the bottom right corner. This marking superficially resembles a cursive signature in the one frame where it is distinct enough to be viewed properly.

01:34 - 02:12

Dr. Conroy quickly looks up, as if hearing a noise. He slowly makes his way to the nearest door on his left. Opening it, RPC-646 can be seen inside, holding a binder. The writing on its spine resembles the sentence "'56 Grad (35mm)." Dr. Conroy steps into the room.

02:13 - 09:57

RPC-646 gently hands Dr. Conroy the binder, and he begins to flip through it. The pictures within the binder depict Dr. Conroy's 1956 graduation from the University of Washington. These pictures appear to move as if they are flat films, but the low resolution of the live broadcast prevents detailed observation of the contents of these pictures beyond general form and movement. Dr. Conroy can be seen focusing on one specific picture, presumably depicting him and several colleagues in a huddle. Dr. Conroy's hands tremble.

10:01 - 11:23

Out of focus, the end of RPC-646's arm can be seen gently caressing Dr. Conroy's right knee. At the same time, the light visible from under the door to the room begins to flicker. The entire frame begins to shiver, but it is unclear whether this is the result of tremors within RPC-646-B or the result of Dr. Conroy's apparent increasing emotional instability.

12:54 - 13:09

Light ceases to be visible from under the door to the room. RPC-646 taps Dr. Conroy's knee once before placing its weight on it as it stands and walks in front of the door. Remaining somewhat illuminated by a reading torch affixed to the left side of the binder, RPC-646 begins moving toward the door.

13:22 - 14:43

The frame’s shaking completely ceases as RPC-646 opens the door, revealing a room completely inconsistent with the previously seen topology of RPC-646-B. The room contains a crowd of people, some of whom have been identified as Dr. Conroy’s late wife and several of his college acquaintances. Dr. Conroy looks up from the binder at RPC-646 as it beckons him toward the door. As Dr. Conroy stands, the video ends.
