Containment Protocols: All entrances to Site-003-ARC are to be placed under constant surveillance from CCTV cameras that have been erected near them. A four meter high barbed wire fence has been erected in a 30 meter perimeter around Site-003-ARC, and is to be patrolled by ASF personnel at all times.

Research into RPC-831 to find a method of effectively preventing it from accessing Authority systems is deemed of the highest priority.

Due to the current state of RPC-831 and its ability to access Authority systems, no hostile actions are to be taken against RPC-831.

Description: RPC-831 is the designation of the AEGIS¹, which was created in 1953 as a means of streamlining Authority global communications. The AEGIS was operational until 1998 after which it was deactivated following the creation of the Authority communication network. RPC-831 itself had various anomalous properties, such as the ability to absorb electronic equipment to increase its processing speed.

Containment Systems: The team is easily able to contain RPC-831 inside of a room in Site-002. As the anomaly is completely inanimate it does not make any attempt to escape. RPC-831 is currently being transported to the location in which Site-003 will be constructed to house the AEGIS.

Object Description: RPC-831 is a mechanical device made from an assortment of cogs and gears, which will consume any electrical device that it touches. From what me and my team have seen, it appears as if RPC-831 is incomplete. As there is an empty cavity on the northern side of RPC-831 that is similar in shape to the outline of a man. RPC-831 is around 3 meters on all sides, with some variation due to its uneven geometry.

On ██/██/1951 the AADC atmospheric entry detection system found that an unknown object entered the earth's atmosphere in over Africa at 00:16 GMT. Interview with witnesses of the object's entry stated that the object split into two pieces. These pieces have been designated as UFO-1951-01 and UFO-1951-02 respectively.

Operation Objectives: Recover UFO-1951-02 and UFO-1951-01 without drawing any attention.

Assigned MST: Uniform-02 ("African Nomads")³

Written Report: Uniform-02 deployed aerial reconnaissance and ground search parties over the estimated crash areas of both UFO-1951-02 and UFO-1951-01. However, UFO-1953-01 was unable to be located by Uniform-02. UFO-1951-02 was located by Uniform-02, and was discovered to be a mechanical construct of unknown purpose. UFO-1951-02 was also discovered to have the ability to absorb electronic devices via unknown means, and has been re-designated as RPC-831 due to these seemingly anomalous properties.

Investigation into the assumed crash location of UFO-1951-01 revealed the presence of tire marks and boot marks. Indicating that UFO-1951-01 was taken by an unknown third party. Investigation into the identity of the third party is ongoing has concluded with the third party remaining unknown.

Addendum- Usage in Project AEGIS

From 1952-1953 RPC-831 was used for the development of Project AEGIS with the assistance of our close partner Nucorp.

Designated Title: Authority Enhanced Generalized Intelligence System, Version 8.3.1

Description: AEGIS is a computational system with an approximate area of 4.21km², located 100m below the Earth's surface in Site-003. The AEGIS system comprises a computational core, a data storage unit, a telecommunications system, and an independent power generation system.

The core is a computational device that the rest of AEGIS is built from. This device is superficially mechanical in appearance with various cogs, gears, drive shafts and other mechanical parts visible on its surface. However, a closer inspection reveals that all of these parts are covered in complex electronic circuitry. The core is capable of incorporating other computational devices into itself, if said device is brought into physical contact with the core.

The generators consist of 2 A-12 Light Water Reactors, capable of a maximum output of 2,562 MW. The fission reactors are used to power the AEGIS functions during normal operations, and are required due to the AEGIS's outdated design. Additionally 4 Geothermal reactors make use of the volcanic activity in the area to power AEGIS in standby for an indefinite period of time if required.

The memory banks consist of 3km² of storage servers, that hold the entirety of the data used by the AEGIS learning algorithm. Additionally, the memory banks hold a backup of the essential components of Authority database that is updated every 24 hours at 00:00 GMT exactly. A nuclear clock located in the memory banks is used to check the time/date of all Authority systems for inconsistencies at 00:00 GMT.

The wireless communication center is responsible for all of the AEGIS's communication abilities. Which allows the AEGIS to communicate with all other Authority Sites, which allows the AEGIS to redirect communications to increase efficiency of site to site communications.

Functionality: AEGIS serves as a hub for the majority of the Authority's Earth based communications in addition to acting as a temporal anchor for all other Earth based Authority Sites. Additionally, the AEGIS acts as a backup for specific components of the Authority database.

AEGIS will enter standby following any major catastrophe that causes twelve (12) or more Authority sites to go offline. During standby all AEGIS systems except for the core and the geothermal generators will be shutdown as a countermeasure to Site-003 being detected/discovered.

Creation: AEGIS was created during a joint project between Nucorp Industries and Research Division assets. The project was meant to find applications for systems like the Bombe⁴ and was completed in 1953, resulting in the AEGIS core. Since then various additional systems have been added to the AEGIS making it as large as it currently is.

Addendum.2:

Failsafe trigger

On June 13th, 2019, a signal was sent from the AEGIS in Site-003-ARC that caused the long neglected nuclear failsafe in Site-014 to be unlocked, which allowed the failsafe to be detonated by a third party. Prompting its re-designation to Gamma-Purple. Additionally, following this incident X-Ray-8 ("Lab Rats") was dispatched to investigate Site-003-ARC which was foreclosed with the deactivation of the AEGIS.

Foreword: Due to the nature in which Site-003-ARC was constructed the team was accompanied by a member of the Department of Communications who had worked with the AEGIS in the past (B-1).

A-1: This is Alpha-1 preparing to enter the site entrance elevator, over.

Command: This is command reading you loud and clear, you have permission to proceed, over.

A-2: Bravo-1 would it be possible power the elevator, over.

B-1: Negative, the elevators were powered by the nuclear reactors that were decommissioned with the site, over.

A-2: Bravo-1 would it be possible to allow the elevator to descend to the bottom of the shaft in a manner that wouldn't cause major damage to the shaft, over.

B-1: I personally have no experience with the elevators themselves here, but I do not recommend taking the risk, over.

Command: Does Bravo-1 have experience with the utilization of an oxy-acetylene torch, over.

B-1: Can confirm to have experience with the utilization of said equipment, over.

Command: I have instructed the perimeter ASF to deliver a torch to Bravo-1, prepare to receive, over.

B-1: Roger that, over.

Command: Bravo-1 is to use the torch to cut a hole in the bottom of the elevator, team is to then proceed to rappel down the elevator shaft until they reach the bottom, after which team is to either pry open or use the torch to pass the access doors into Site-003-ARC directly, over.

A-2: First I think we should investigate the memory banks, maybe steal a hard-drive or two from there for analysis. Then we will investigate the AEGIS core.

A-2: Stay between us.

B-1: Got it.

A-2: We have reached the memory banks now and… that can't be how they actually build them, right John?

B-1: What the actually fuck happened here?

A-1: I believe that is a no.

B-1: I'll describe this area: Essentially it looks as if cables have started to grow like vines between the serves. Some of the servers appear to have grown clockwork out of them. Additionally, some of the electronic growths seem to be connected to an esoteric device that greatly resembles a tape drive server, which was not there when we foreclosed Site-003, this tape drive server in turn has a cable growing out the side of towards where the AEGIS core is located.

A-1: Should we try to retrieve a sample?

A-2: No, we will grab a couple of drives from the outermost servers and get out of this section.

A-1: Excuse me John, but do you know how to remove the hard-drives from one of these servers?

B-1: Yes, just… give me a minute to contemplate my life choices.

B-1 proceeds to go to one of the outer server and manages to retrieve two hard-drives

A-2: I see movement in the cables, I suggest-

B-1 immediately sprints away from the server and returns to team

B-1: Got two, that will have to do for now.

A-1: It appears as if Bravo-1 left some of their tools behind, and the cables seem to have grown around these tools. From what I can see we only lost a few wrenches and a cable cutter.

B-1: Why are you sayi-

A-1: Command said they wanted us to describe things we see, so I thought they would want to know about this.

A-2: Good initiative. Anyway, lets make our way to the core, Ty you take point and I'll cover the rear.

A-1: Roger that.

A-1: How can you tell, we haven't even entered the core room yet.

B-1: You see how the door is open. When we foreclosed the site we sealed all entrances to the AEGIS core, and welded the doors shut. Which means that either there is something here that we simply can't deal with, or that the AEGIS managed to do this itself.

A-2: I was only thinking about the first option, but I don't believe that we are equipped to deal with this right now.

A-1: Then what are your orders?

A-2: Let's return to the surface, hopefully those researchers can find some data on those drives and with what we have seen so far.

B-1: Sounds good.

Closing Statement: After careful review of this log, researchers have concluded that the AEGIS was not correctly deactivated during the foreclosure of Site-003-ARC. However, researchers also stated that even if the AEGIS was not correctly deactivated, it should not have had the ability to function without power. Investigation into this phenomena is ongoing.
