Registered Phenomena Code: 939

Object Class: Beta-Yellow

Hazard Types: Regenerative Hazard, Transmutation Hazard, Contact Hazard.

Containment Protocols: RPC-939 is currently contained in a secured 2m3 containment cell, guarded by no less than three lightly-armed ASF personnel. Testing should only occur on a bi-weekly basis, unless permission has been granted by personnel with Level-4R status (or above). No more than one CSD personnel may be used during testing1, and should be terminated after testing has been completed. In the event of a breach, ASF personnel wearing Level A hazmat suits must terminate the person(s) responsible for the breach, and recontain RPC-939. After the containment of RPC-939, testing is to be halted for the following month to ensure there has not been any significant damage to its containment or the Site as a whole.

All RPC-939-1 instances (refer to description) are to be disposed of immediately as to prevent accidental fatalities; the preferred method of disposal is incineration. Exceptions can be discussed with the Head Researcher of the Site, though all exceptions should be secured in medium-threat containment lockers, with a digital pass-code that alternates once every 6 hours.

Due to an incident regarding RPC-939-1 instances and Dr. Carter, all previous exceptions from the termination order are to be placed in a secured containment locker, and accessible only by a pass-code; however, this pass-code must be changed every 6 hours to prevent another breach.

Description: RPC-939 is an anomalous pinata. RPC-939 is constructed from a clay base, with paper added onto it to form the stereotypical appearance of a pinata. RPC-939 has also been able to change its appearance to represent holidays and celebrations, these appearances are:

  • A suit and tie (most often reported during formal events);
  • A diaper (during February);
  • A jack-o-lantern2 (during October 30th and 31st);
  • Turning red and green during the winter season;
  • Turning orange and purple during the autumnal season;
  • A pair of sunglasses, which manifests during the summer season.

When contact between organic material and RPC-939 is made, said organic material will begin to be converted into capsule-shaped candy, wrapped in the skin of the subject3 (hereafter referred to as RPC-939-1). Upon consuming an instance of RPC-939-1, the consumer's organs will undergo the aforementioned process4, and ultimately cause the death of the consumer due to organ failure. Consumers of RPC-939-1 will usually take around 7-to-8 hours to expire after consumption.

When RPC-939 is struck with an object that is inorganic in nature, damage will be sustained, but will quickly restore itself once the object is removed from RPC-939. It is unknown if there are any organic or bio-mechanical systems present within RPC-939, and study is ongoing. After X-rays were performed on RPC-939, it was noted to have no bio-mechanical or otherwise organic structures present on its interior.

Research is ongoing to determine whether or not RPC-939-1 instances possess memetic abilities, due to previous incidents in regards to Research personnel and said instances.

Addendum 1.1: All collected instances of RPC-939-1 must be incinerated, unless they have proven useful to helping the Authority learn more about RPC-939. Currently, there are three instances of RPC-939-1 that are exempt from the termination order.

Addendum 1.2: A short compilation of tests conducted on RPC-939 and RPC-939-1 instances has been reviewed and added to this article, as to help newer staff assigned to RPC-939 understand it.
