Containment Protocols: RPC-966-A/B are to be contained within a large concrete chamber completed with an observation deck secured with ballistic glass. The singular entrance leading into the containment chamber is to be under constant surveillance and guarded by no less than 4 armed ASF personnel, with an additional 2 ASF on standby. A stage completed with a sitting area capable of accommodating 50 people is to be present as part of the appeasement efforts.
25-50 CSD personnel (depending on their availability) are to be sent to RPC-966-A/B's containment chamber on a daily basis to participate in their shows. Prior, no less than 5 CSD personnel are to be readied to volunteer in the show at the moment's notice. Should a chosen satellite CSD personnel refuse participation, disciplinary action is to be carried out.
Should an appropriately sized audience not be provided, RPC-966-A/B will attempt to leave the Facility. In the event of containment protocol failure, negotiation is to be firstly implored. Should all negotiation attempts fail, both instances of RPC-966 can be temporarily incapacitated if enough damage is dealt to their structure. Blunt force is preferred, as it results in fewer pieces for transport. After incapacitation, the resulting pieces are to be moved back into the containment chamber. If the incapacitation method was used it is recommended to increase the quantity of CSD personnel during the subsequent shows.
Description: Designation RPC-966 refers to a pair of 1.8-meter tall humanoid statues capable of locomotion made out of wood, papier-mâché, and steel wires. Both instances of RPC-966 possess comically oversized heads and abdomens lacking any internal organs. Photographies taken during the few instances that RPC-966-A/B have exposed the insides of their heads show that they are partially made out of the old Die Presse newspapers as well as other Austrian printings from the 1870s to 1880s that make up the layers of papier-mâché. RPC-966-A/B are dressed in clothing made from different shades of linen and possess painted-on facial details with additional red coloring around the cheeks created using oil paints. Although unable to vocalize, they often express themselves through exaggerated body movements similar to the art form of mime and have been shown to understand a wide range of Germanic languages. Although similar in both shape and design, RPC-966-A/B can be told apart by the minor differences in appearance.
RPC-966-A |
RPC-966-B |
RPC-966-A has a brown Chevron mustache pattern painted onto its head. It wears a scarlet-red tailcoat and brown trousers topped with a black tophat. |
RPC-966-B has a grey Mutton chops beard pattern painted onto its head. It wears an emerald-green overcoat and brown trousers topped with a gray bowler hat. |
While the outside appearance of both RPC-966-A and RPC-966-B is widely consistent, the insides of their heads were recorded to assume many forms. Those include: hollow papier-mâché shells, rotating brass gearing with neither a power source nor apparent purpose, velvet-lined cases of various instruments, a mechanical hand capable of playing brass instruments, and a smaller instance of RPC-966-A/B's heads, akin to Matryoshka dolls.
Due to their anomalous nature, European origin, and the group's previous involvement in other art-related anomalies, it has been suspected that the creation of RPC-966-A/B is the work of the Academy of True Art.
Although the extent of the ability of RPC-966-A/B is unknown, they have displayed a high degree of matter manipulation alongside the aforementioned regenerative properties. If some parts of their bodies are not within proximity of RPC-966-A/B during the regeneration process, they will become inert. As such, it is vital for all pieces of both instances to be present within the containment chamber after incapacitation.
Currently, it is considered impossible to form a complete archive of their every anomalous property, as both instances of RPC-966 conjure effects randomly rather than according to any comprehensive ruleset. Whether through a desire or limitation, neither has shown to be capable of causing mass destruction, with all explosions recorded being minute in their radius and power.
Both instances of RPC-966 are concerned with nothing more than constantly attempting to outperform one another and therefore have not yet been noted to pursue higher goals. Based on the observations, however, it is considered impossible for RPC-966-A to outperform RPC-966-B and vice versa. Neither will admit defeat nor declare themselves to be the victor. After an arbitrary number of performances, both instances of RPC-966 will proceed to physically attack each other. It must be noted that during these confrontations neither uses any of the abilities at their disposal and turn to scuffle. Upon the brawl between RPC-966-A and RPC-966-B concluding, the limbs of two are usually seen partaking in the handshake after their disemboweled bodies pull each other off the stage, beginning the regenerative process.
Momentarily, RPC-966-A/B are willingly staying in their designated containment chamber through the appeasement efforts of the Containment Division. It is theorized that they attempt to relocate if the audience is insufficient due to their fondness for having engaged spectators. Should RPC-966-A/B find themselves in a place devoid of human life, both will cease to display their competitive behavioral patterns until the nearest human gathering is located and reached.
Overview: The following is a recording retrieved from the first official Authority-organized RPC-966-A/B show. Audio and video quality was enhanced.
Date: ██/10/1892
<Begin Log>
RPC-966-A and RPC-966-B walk onto the stage, bowing to the audience before giving each other an uneasy handshake. As per orders, CSD personnel clap.
RPC-966-A begins with an opening act. It is seen tapping what appears to be a chicken egg with the bud of its cane. After the third tap, it places its ear over to the shell as a creature bursts from the egg. It appears to be a semi-developed chicken fetus, landing upon the ground. CSD personnel are silent before, as per orders, clapping at the act. RPC-966-A shakes hands with RPC-966-B before the second act begins.
RPC-966-B’s body movement suggests it looking for a volunteer from the audience. CSD-9870, previously designated by the research staff, volunteers. 3 wooden boxes are taken out from behind the curtain, numbered 1 - 3. Once stacked upon each other, RPC-966-B opens the three small compartments individually as CSD enters the newly assembled rectangular create. With CSD-9870 inside, RPC-966-B takes out a roll of parchment with the phrase “Three Make One. Stack In Order and Open.” in German, displaying it to the audience. It then shuffles the boxes around, placing them in a (from top to bottom) 2, 1, 3 order. Upon opening the boxes, RPC-966-B mimes as if it committed a blunder as the now spliced dead body of CSD-9870 falls out of the three compartments. RPC-966-A makes a snickering gesture at the result before returning to its serious demeanor and shaking hands with RPC-966-B. Despite one audience member vomiting, CSD personnel clap.
RPC-966-A also looks for an audience member. CSD-2901 leaves his seat, walking onto the stage. He is given a cardboard box and asked to stand in the stage’s center. RPC-966-A approaches CSD-2901 with a quill, writing “heavy” on the box with black ink in German. CSD-2901 falls to the ground, unable to stand up as a sound of breaking joints and screams of pain are heard. RPC-966-A then crosses out the written word as the item loses its anomalous weight and mimes for the volunteer to leave the stage. RPC-966-B shakes its head slowly, unamused. Showing some concern for CSD-2901, the other CSD personnel are requested to quiet down and clap as the show continues. RPC-966-A shakes hands with RPC-966-B, this time more aggressively
RPC-966-B can be seen conjuring a wooden stool from behind the red curtain and sitting down on it. Removing its head and holding it under its arm, the entity uses its unoccupied hand to take out two wooden Baroque violins from its hollow body. RPC-966-A makes a gesture of clogging its ears as RPC-966-B re-attaches its head. Growing two additional arm-like appendages, RPC-966-B plays both instruments simultaneously while its head opens around its equator sporadically. From its center, a brass Piccolo Trumpet accompanies the composition, playing a singular note at every opening. The song has no clear rhythm.
As prior, a handshake proceeds, with its intensity soon erupting into a scuffle. Shards of both instances of RPC-966 are scattered around the stage. This is followed by the now disembodied bodies being pulled behind the curtain by their limbs after the two engage in a proper handshake. CSD personnel are ordered to leave the containment chamber.
<End Log>
Notes:
- Cross-referencing RPC-966-B's composition yielded no results.
- During the next show, the Containment Team is to specifically select CSD personnel desensitized to gore.
- The body of CSD-9870 was disposed of via cremation.
- CSD-2901 made a complete recovery.

Cause of Incident: |
Experiment Performed by Dr. Tornike |
Status: |
Resolved |
REPORT DESCRIPTION:
A theory by Dr. Tornike was devised which stated that both instances of RPC-966 can be fooled into believing that the required audience was present as per the Containment Protocol without endangering CSD personnel. To achieve this, 25 hyper-realistic human mechatronic puppets were created and dressed up as CSD personnel. During the scheduled show, RPC-966-A/B began acting hostile towards the Authority forces due to the lack of human audience, dismissing the automatons. This escalated into an Engage & Contain type incident.
EVENTS TRANSPIRED:
11:30: The time for the scheduled RPC-966-A/B show is in 30 minutes. Dr. Tornike begins his experiment log.
11:50: The mechatronic puppets make their way into the containment chamber and settle in the sitting area.
12:00: RPC-966-A/B enter the stage. The sound of clapping is played from the speakers.
12:01: Both instances of RPC-966 are visibly upset by the lack of a live audience. They approach the entrance.
12:02: RPC-966-A knocks on the metal doors using the “Shave and a Haircut” pattern. The door is thrown with high velocity, landing roughly 20 meters down the hallways and resulting in the death of Pvt. Brown.
12:03: The 2 ASF personnel on standby are called. Containment protocol failure is announced to be in effect.
12:04: The negotiation tactics are implored as the 3 remaining ASF personnel regroup, watching the hallway leading into the containment chamber.
12:07: The 2 ASF personnel on standby arrive at the scene.
12:09: After a lack of response, the go-ahead is given for the incapacitation.
12:10: Cpl. Lynnette approaches RPC-966-A with a breaching hammer. She lands a direct hit on the head, incapacitating it.
12:11: RPC-966-B takes out a piece of rope. It wraps around the neck of Cpl. Lynnette and jolts upwards, snapping her neck. ASF personnel open fire. RPC-966-B is incapacitated.
12:16: Containment protocol failure was announced to no longer be in effect.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
At the time of the experiment, the nature of RPC-966-A/B was not well documented. The experiment put forward by Dr. Tornike was suggested by other Research Staff members and approved by a Clearance Level 3 Senior Researcher. Furthermore, the observer's reaction to the containment protocol failure was proper. As such, no disciplinary actions were given out.
After the incident, 50 CSD personnel were provided the following day. Although at first tensions between the observing research staff and both instances of RPC-966 were present, as evident by vulgar gestures targeted at the observation window, they stopped once RPC-966-A concerned itself with outperforming RPC-966-B and vice versa.
The mechatronic puppets were of high quality. This, combined with the fact that RPC-966-A/B's date of creation pointed at them having no prior interaction with robotics of any kind, made it unusual that neither were fooled by the hyperrealistic automatons. From previous interactions, both instances of RPC-966 reacted to auditory, tactile, and visual stimuli, yet their uncanny ability to distinguish between organic and inorganic audience members must be looked into further. -Dr. Tornike
Discovery: RPC-966-A/B was initially encountered by the Authority personnel on ██/09/1892 in the city of ██████, Austria. After numerous noise complaints from the local abandoned theatre followed by reports of 2 missing individuals, MST Lima-19 was dispatched to the location. They were able to extract RPC-966-A/B without the use of force, with both instances willingly following the MST members. The missing individuals, aged 7 and 9, were successfully returned to their parents after proper amnesticization.
When studying the habits of RPC-966-A/B, the subjects likely followed the team members due to their transport having 6 personnel on board. From the fact that both instances of RPC-966 conjured minor anomalous properties while in transit, it can be deduced that the onboard crew was simply considered to be a larger audience. - Dr. Young
