A rare instance of RPC-453 manifesting outdoors

Containment Protocols: Data miners and AI web crawlers have been established to monitor databases for suspect missing persons, as well as for videos and testimonies providing evidence of RPC-453 incursions. Such online media must be deleted on discovery. Any civilians confirmed to have entered RPC-453 are to be interrogated and amnesticized. The capture of a "target subject" (this subject is elaborated on further in the document) with knowledge of RPC-453 has yet to be accomplished, and remains a priority.

Confirmed RPC-453 instances must be investigated and the general vicinity vacated until at least 12AM, with an appropriate cover story. No endemic objects or organic matter are to be removed from any instances of RPC-453 without express permission from Level 3 or above personnel.

Disinformation campaigns have been deemed unnecessary. This is due to the fact that the number of RPC-453 incursions coincides with a marked increase by the general public in the use of smartphones and social media. Before the increase of RPC-453 incursions began, problematic states of mind such as "curiosity" and "boredom" were rife within the general public, making investigation of restricted areas seem more enticing, and therefore more noticeable, yet the distracting nature of these inventions seem to have lessened these states of mind in the general population. This has been deemed a sufficient "naturally occuring" mechanism to prevent any breaks in normalcy.
A causative relationship between RPC-453 and the invention of these devices has not been ruled out at this time.

Description: RPC-453 is the designation of an anomalous property affecting doors, gates or other similar entrances worldwide marked by a sign which reads "Staff Only" or similar phrasing, manifesting at 12AM and lasting exactly 24 hours. Before January 1st 2016, only 2.1% of marked doors worldwide displayed this property, yet the end of that year saw the number climb to around 2.5%, reaching an apex of 3.3% of doors in 2020. Until or unless a pattern can be established, the current assumption is that the effect is distributed at random.

When a designated member of staff of the affected location walks through an instance of RPC-453, it displays no anomalous effects and obeys normalcy. Whenever someone other than a member of staff enters, the destination on the other side will shift to a different location known as the "Staff Area". The overwhelming majority of subjects who enter do not register the sudden change or its anomalous properties, due to the similarity of the "Staff Area" to the original location.
Further exploration of the Staff Area, however, results in the gradual loss of its resemblance to normalcy.

All known "Staff Areas", while of variable size and shape, are entirely linear, that is, it is practically impossible to get lost or take a wrong turn, and all known examples can be traversed in under 6 hours. No two instances have ever been recorded manifesting simultaneously. Whether this means that there can only be one instance of RPC-453 at a time, or that the anomaly is too difficult to track, remains unknown.

At the end of the "Staff Area", the subject will be greeted by a figure that will henceforth be referred to as RPC-453-1. The nature of RPC-453-1 will vary depending on the instance: the only commonality between them is the door marked "NO STAFF ALLOWED" found in their immediate presence. RPC-453-1 will attempt to use whatever means they can to convince, compel or cajole the subject into going through it. Some instances of RPC-453-1 (designated RPC-453-α) may use violence or brute force, while other instances (designated RPC-453-β) may take the appearance of an entity pleading or making convincing arguments as to why the subject should pass through the door.

It must be noted that RPC-453-1 will always appear to be tailored to the target subject of RPC-453; that is, RPC-453-α will take the form of something the target subject fears, and RPC-453-β will take the form of a person or being that the subject finds attractive, authoritative or otherwise is more likely to influence them. Notably, there exists no record of any subject, target or otherwise, passing through the the final destination.

All instances of RPC-453 seem to be "targeted" at a subject found in the shop or immediate vicinity of the instance at the time of incursion. That is to say, the more extreme inconsistencies, up to and including RPC-453-1, all have the property of being things that would be more likely to convince the target subject than any other target.
