Containment Protocols: (Updated 12/2/2021) RPC-832 is contained in an opaque 30×30×10m ACS calibration chamber1 in Containment Sector C of Site-074. Parts of the containment chamber floor can drop into a basement and be replaced with cleaned tiles. This second room, located below the main room, is to be cleaned by 2C clearance maintenance staff biweekly after testing. Maintenance staff are to be outfitted with standard hazmat suits before entering the containment unit. Extraneous flesh is to be incinerated and cleaners decontaminated before exiting the cleaning floor.
RPC-832 is to be activated biweekly by a security dog2 an aquarium with various fish.3 The aquarium’s specimens are to be spilled from the upper hatch of the containment unit till RPC-832 is reduced to 50m3 in volume. 3-832R Clearance is required for direct access and activation of the anomaly, with mandatory AECT reading documented each activation. De-manifestation rates must not exceed 25m3/s.
Six of these chambers have been constructed within Sector C with identical setups. An animal carcass should be placed and left unattended in all cells that are currently unoccupied by RPC-832. When a complete de-manifestation of RPC-832 occurs, it is likely to appear in one of the chambers. Waste disposal by RPC-832 will be used to determine the newly occupied chamber. If RPC-832 does not appear in any chamber, ecological researchers must monitor local wildlife patterns. If a region with ecosystems is noted to have experienced an unexplained decline in sentient life, MST November 7 “Hammer The Gamma” is to be dispatched to the newly designated hazard zone to reacquire RPC-832.
RPC-832-S instances are to be contained in 3m3 standard containment units. The units are to be cleaned weekly and the instances tranquilized beforehand. Under no circumstances is access to these containment units permitted without ASF personnel.

Description: RPC-832 is a levitating gestalt of porous soft tissue lumps, with a long proboscis-like appendage. RPC-832 utilizes its porous structure to absorb and inflate itself with surrounding gases, demonstrating a preference for inhaling oxygen but anomalously exhaling sulfur dioxide. At baseline ACS levels, the subject pulsates at a rate of 20-22 bpm depending on its mass, and constantly expands in volume by gas when inactive from 50m3 to █████m3. This rate of pulsation will increase as the ACS decreases, with a ratio of 0.01 ACS to +5 bpm. Ultrasound screening indicates multiple amorphous structures within each mass, interconnected by a network of nervous tissue that connects to black spots on its surface. It is postulated that this network functions as the subject’s brain and its spots as rudimentary eyes.
If a sentient or sapient lifeform is observed by RPC-832, its appendage will point directly towards the noticed individual. The likeness or characteristics of the observed will begin to form as an impression on RPC-832’s body before rapidly taking shape and falling off. After a period of time passes,4 RPC-832 will inject a red gaseous substance from its appendage into one of its dropped lumps. This will rapidly mutate the lump into a sentient being (hereinafter referred to as an RPC-832-S instance). Excess lumps not injected by the red gas decompose over 3-10 days.
In this state, hereafter designated the “nurturing” phase, RPC-832 exhibits an elevated pulsation rate. Recorded values range from 40 to █00 bpm, correlating with the anomaly's ability to lower ACS as the bpm rate increases. When the last of its lumps falls apart, RPC-832 will slowly fade away, de-manifesting and reemerging from the remains of a wild animal. This process increases exponentially the longer RPC-832 observes another living individual, but will occur regardless due to the natural shedding of lumps.
RPC-832-S instances’ biology and behavior are derived from the lifeforms observed by RPC-832. Once fully formed, the creature will mimic the original ecosystem to varying degrees of accuracy. RPC-832-S instances do not trigger RPC-832 to form further instances. RPC-832-S’s qualities are dependent on the following parameters:
- Period of observation
- Number of observers
- The observers’ degree of sapience
- ACS Level
All recorded instances exhibit an innate flight-or-fight response towards human non-832-S sapient life and hostility towards any perceived threat to RPC-832. To note is a universal lack of reproductive organs or cell regeneration in 832-S instances.
RPC-832 will actively seek out sentient observation if it has been inactive for longer than 10-20 days.
Addendum I: On 08/16/2021 after routine feeding, RPC-832 has not produced an instance as expected. On the second day, a lump fell out. This continued for 9 days, after which no RPC-832-S instances spawned. Diagnostics have shown minute fluctuations in ACS in the chamber, below normal levels.
Incident-832-1: On 12/1/2021 1:12AM, several RPC-832-S instances were breached out of containment. In most instances, attempts were made to flee and avoid contact with ASF. RPC-832-S14 and RPC-832-S37 actively coordinated towards reaching RPC-832’s containment zone. According to one report, RPC-832-S37 was observed entering RPC-832-S14’s nostril opening, appearing to investigate its internals before making a jerky motion that caused the instance to cover it in dense phlegm. RPC-832-S37 armed itself with a pistol and fired while maneuvering within RPC-832-S14’s swarm of appendages. The incident caused 12 casualties, 3 deaths, and led to RPC-832 briefly escaping containment before its recontainment. The aforementioned instances were terminated by ASF personnel.
Senior Researcher Rayyan Palmer was found dead in RPC-832-S37’s containment room. On his person were a scalpel, a medical drill, a journal, and 3 plastic pouches filled with thermite. Autopsy has shown several self-inflicted wounds on the left shoulder and arm, a corneal ulcer in the right eye, and the cause of death was determined to be a hemorrhagic stroke halfway through an auto-trepanation procedure.
Bio-Hazard has been added to RPC-832’s Hazard list.
